Bringing back the nail wrap

here is something fun to try before your next family photoshoot! save a little money doing your nails.

A BB, A Bear, and A Duck

So many many (I’m not going to give my age away) years ago, before professional photography, kids, the army, and new York….. I did hair and nails and I really loved doing nails 🙂 I’ve started seeing the nail wrap coming back to fix broken nails…., but how many of you know that there was also a more stylish way to do nail wraps besides just gluing a silk wrap to your nail??

Yep, more fun and much prettier!
First find a fabric that you like, scraps work well.

Cut it close to the size of your nails, then file your nails and shape them.

Next use a nail primer (this can be found at Sally’s Beauty Supply) it helps clean oils off your nails so everything lasts longer. (My specific brand is a professional brand not found at Sally’s)

Next add glue to your nail

Press the fabric to…

That “Copycat Photographer” ~ Central Texas Fine Arts Photographer

This has happened to me many times, I have now realized it’s just not worth being mad and I will HAPPILY tell whoever wants to know, how I created an image, what tools and props I used, and what PS work I did to an image. All you have to do is ask. 🙂 share and grow.

Malisa Phillips Photography

I’m sure we’ve all heard it and seen it in the photography industry. Dark tales of other photographer’s copying and stealing work. They say Imitation is the best form of flattery, and I’m sure to some it can be pretty annoying. But when does it actually come down to really copying…. or being inspired to do something unique and “out of the box”?

I’ve been doing this photography gig now for about 4 1/2 years. I have seen a lot of work that has inspired me and pushed me to be more creative. In fact, I have an entire folder on my desktop of images I keep for new ideas. And every week it changes. Once upon a time everyone known to man was doing selective coloring. You know when the whole picture was black & white except for a flower, or an eye?? Yea that was awesome. Now you see so…

So after a great amount of thought, tears, and debate I have decided to close my doors for now.

I will continue to blog, share photos that I take,  and I will never stop photographing what I love,  I just won’t be taking on clients for at least a year if not more.

So time to celebrate new things to come!  And rejoice in what the Lord has given us!

Raymond Cuties!

I don’t take on older kids very often, but when I do I get sweet and goofy kids like the Raymond kids!! They were so much fun, and we had a good time taking pictures in the studio, laughing, and just having a good time.  Conner was full of being goofy through out the shoot, and had lots of fun helping me pick a few props for his shoot.  Miss Madeleine was having fun playing with the flowers and daddy’s cell phone while we took her photos!! It is amazing to think that Madeleine was my first Newborn a year ago! Conner was also a wonderful model that I used last semester for one of my assignments!! I love working with these sweet kids, and their mom and dad!

The Crazy Life!

So I will share a bit of personal insight into my life as of the last couple of months.  I finished another semester of College! YEAH! I happily had A’s in all of my classes and still maintain a 4.0!!

My 6 year old just graduated from Kindergarten, so now we are filling up our summer with fun activities and her favorite Dance! She has also been exploring Photography quite a bit more.  You can follow her at

Sweet shots by BB

I have been working very hard at restructuring my photography business, changing my website, building up my portfolio a bit more, and redoing my pricing.  This has been filling up a great deal of my personal free time and I admit I have been neglecting my blog.  I am working on this though!!

I have also been spending a bit more time working on some of my personal work outside of my business, and have started a new page on Facebook for sharing this work Tiny Flowers

I do have a few new blogs to start working on, and posting soon! Thank you all for being so patient and supportive while I work on all of these changes!! you are all amazing, and I would not be where I am without my faith in God and the support of my followers 🙂

God Bless and have a wonderful evening!

Happy 1st Birthday Mr. Gavin!!

A very happy Birthday to Mr. Gavin!! I had the privilege and pleasure of photographing on the day of his birth at the hospital.  It was a wonderful morning spent with mom and dad before mom went down to have her C-section, Then a bit later dad came back up to the nursery with Newborn baby Gavin where I got to spend some time with just daddy and baby Gavin before mom came back to her room, then a few shots with mom before she decided it was time for some rest.  What a blessing each and every child that comes into this world is!

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.

Psalm 127:3

Take time for the “Little Things”

I started my photographic journey with Macro Photography, I have always loved finding things in nature that people would normally pass by and showing how beautiful they really are. I recently went out and photographed some dandelion puffs as they were everywhere in my back yard.  They are so delicate and can be gone with a simple breeze, and can remind us that life is delicate, and we never know when a breeze will take us home to God.  I submitted a few of these images to Shutterbug’s Facebook page, and to my excitement they chose my image to be the cover image for their Facebook page!! This is just such a blessing and just makes me smile so much! Praise be to God for this blessing, and a big thanks for all of my friends and family who have supported me!!   Remember life is not so busy that you cant take a minute to enjoy the blessings all around you! (The first image is the one on Shutterbugs FB page, the rest are from shooting that day)

Newborn Baby Ainslei

Ten fingers, Ten toes
She’s laughter and teardrops
So small and brand new
And amazingly angelic
She’s sent to bless you
She’s one special Baby
The best of life’s treasure
And will grant and bless you
Many hours of great pleasure.

No words have be truer when speaking of loving a child! Ainslei was such a sweet little newborn to photograph! As parents we loose sleep, stress, and do everything we can to protect our kids and always feel like we are falling short! Here are some beautiful portraits of Beautiful Ainslei when she was 10 days young! So sweet, and I love her squishy lips!  Newborn_A_Rousell Newborn_A_RousellNewborn_A_Rousell Newborn_A_Rousell Newborn_A_Rousell

Telling a story

I have started working with 3 awesome women as my models a mom Kathy and her 2 Beautiful Daughters Katelyn and Michaela!! they have been helping me with several assignments and it has been a lot of fun! The first assignment that they helped with was my “telling a story” assignment were I created an anti smoking 3 image story showing how you can overcome peer pressure and say no to drinking and smoking and drugs! I think that it is an important message to get out that you dont have to give into peer pressure, and that saying no is a great way to go! Thank you to my beautiful ladies!! (Keep your eyes peeled as they will be showing up a few more times in my blog 🙂
